Doing what developers could not (AnkiMobile IOS AutoSync)

So..
Another day of being a no lifer,

while scrolling through Reddit I came across this post. which gives a tutorial of using IOS shortcut automation to turn on auto sync in Anki, which for some reason developers didn't include even after charging $25 / 2.5k INR

But OP's tutorial was still complicated, especially the part where you have to figure out all the technicalities yourself lmao

So Here I am! to the rescue! your savior! and You are welcome in advance.

So now, all the crap and forced humor aside,
here is the step by step tutorial of how to achieve Anki autosync upon opening and closing the app:

btw Before continuing, i'd like to inform you that i've also made a YouTube Demonstration

Step 1: THE EASY PART: (DOWNLOAD)

  1. Download Data Jar app from AppStore (relax, you won't even need to open it, you can if you want but don't mess the fuck up with it)

  2. Get these 4 IOS shortcuts: (i made them for you, so you don't have to)
    1. Time Last Run
    2. Anki Sync
    3. Anki Sync w/open
    4. AnkiClose AutoSync

Step 2: THE TEST OF TIMES: (SETUP)

After you have downloaded the Data Jar App and the four shortcuts aforementioned,
Now you will need to create 2 automations, YOURSELF. yes, yourself.
but its pretty easy, here is how:

Setting up auto-sync at startup:
  1. Open Shortcuts app on your IOS and go to Automations

  2. Tap on New Automations and select App >> then select "is opened" - choose Anki and select run immediately

  3. Tap on next, then select Anki Sync W/open
DONE! Auto-sync at startup is now setup successfully 🫂🫂🫂

Setting up auto-sync at close:
  1. Come back to Automations and create another automation.

  2. Just like before, tap on Next BUT select "AnkiClose Autosync" This time
DONE! Auto-sync at close is now also setup successfully ðŸ’ƒðŸ’ƒ

This is what your automation page should be looking like after the aforementioned setup process:

And that’s it, beautiful ladies and gentle men
The Anki AutoSync at startup and close is successfully set up.

But,
for some reason, you are one of the gods’ favorites and you still haven’t been able to get this working,
then check out this YouTube demonstration of the whole thing in a 3 min muted video where I did exactly what I have written above with a working demonstration.

Happy studying!

(Another Formality, honestly idgaf if you're happy or sad while you study)
